I live near the Passaic River in Newark, NJ. I enjoy watching the river as it seems to change direction at high or low tide. In 2017 I made a few ensemble pieces for Ordinary Affects and a group that would become LCollective that took the time of high and low tides across three days and translated them into frequencies and durations- producing simple sinetone arpeggios. Each sinetone was paired with an instrumental tone in close unison, with a few rare exceptions. In August 2017 the three arpeggios are played in sequence, producing a slow, 40 minute piece. The recording here is of the three sections layered one on top of another. In September 2017 the three sections are performed simultaneously.
